Nova Scotia Class 1 Licence Requirements
In Nova Scotia, You require a Class 1 licence
for driving semi-trailers and tractor-trailer combinations. A Class 5 is valid as a learners for Class 1 provided you are driving with a Class 1 Driver.

- Age 19 years,
- 1 year's experience with at least Class 5 licence,
- Successfully complete written test for a Class 1 vehicle,
- Provide satisfactory medical and optical reports when you apply and periodically thereafter, and
- Successfully demonstrate driving ability in a semi-trailer or a tractor trailer combination.
- Newly-licenced drivers cannot upgrade to a higher class licence while they have newly-licenced status.
